Introspective

Benny's late. He said he would be here at exactly
ten o'clock. Benny is a stickler for accuracy.

Osprey shuffled on her seat. Her view was nothing
less of spectacular, as reddish magma oozed out
of the cracks in the earth. Beautiful. This display
of total change reflected the state of the island:
utter chaos in the face of change. To herself,
Osprey grinned.

Today she was wearing nothing more than a
pair of shorts and a trench-coat. Immodest, perhaps,
but Osprey was not one to pay attention to the
laws of propriety. Ho hum.

Benny, where'd you run off to this time? To see
your sister? Oh. I forgot. I ripped her in half.

She blew a stray hair out of her face. It was so lovely
and warm close to the magma, much different
from the chilly weather on the rest of the island.
She rested her chin on her drawn-up knees and
closed her eyes.

If Osprey had been a cat, her ears would have
perked when she caught the sound of running feet.
She smiled lazily and titled her head in the direction
of the sound. Vi-i-i-sitor!

She caught sight of him -for indeed it was a male
human being-. Sadly, her visitor was not her dear
sister, Chevy-lina. Someone new. Fresh meat. She
unwound her legs and followed him with her eyes.

After a while she frowned. Don't like this one. He
smells like a carnivore, a pack leader. A bad smell.
Like you. You're a carnivore. But all you get are the
left-over bones.

She considered the newcomer. Young-ish old-ish,
with dark hair and lines from too much scowling.
Far too much scowling. He needed to learn how to
smile more.

She waited for him to notice her.

Osprey cackled and waved at him cheerily, she lifted herself up from the ground,
throwing herself backwards to straighten her spine, then she cracked her knuckles.

"What's he-e-ere?" She giggled like a little girl. "Why, a world of chaos and a
mirror of sweet Zibyl herself." She threw her arms forward in a sweeping gesture
directed at the lava. "Everything consistently destroyed and made anew! The unavoidable
changes of life." The sleeves of her coat had fallen to her elbows in her dramatic movement.
"Oh, and I am Osprey. For that is the name they gave this body when it rebelled."

She pranced up to her new 'friend' and examined him. Closely, as if staring at a bug; she had to stretch
a little, he was taller after all. She tapped his cheek, then licked her fingers. "Your skin
tastes like metal," she hissed through her teeth. "So you must be a mu-u-utant!" She
grinned like a child. "Just like sister Chevy-lina, except Chevy-lina tastes like lemonade and smells like
blood."

And she wanted to bite him. On the neck, preferably (Osprey was a good girl who was mostly
devoid of perversion). Her venom was so potent right now it was making her giddy. Got to make someone
smile.

Osprey smirked smugly and grabbed his jaw between
the fingers of one hand, pulling his face back and forth in silent
examination.

She cackled, "Oh! You are ever so-o-o close to sinking
to my level. Sinking to madness, snapping like a brittle twig,
taking a dive into the looney bin, whiche-e-ever term you prefer
to use, Reo-o-x," she purred, dragging out the name she'd
just learned, enjoying the way to name rolled off her tongue. It
began softly and ended with a nice click of the tongue.

She tapped his face and dropped her hand. "Reox. Reox.
Re-e-e-e-o-o-o-x. I know! I'll call you Re-re! Or maybe Rerun!"
She giggled at her own jokes. She put her hands on her chest.
"I like you," she declared, "You're so molest-al-able!"

Osprey scarcely blinked when Reox snatched her hand.
Just like daddy dearest had done before. Was Reox going to
throw you across the room now? Except this isn't the house,
it's a volcano. A be-eootiful volcano. She abandoned that train
of thought.

"Molest-al-able." She corrected, in a serious voice. "It's
a far more advanced state than 'molestable'. Refers to when the
target slash victim is particularly innocent. Or just hot." She
shrugged and collapsed to the ground, sighing in contentment.

"Nevertheless. I refuse to spew a variety of ugly, bloody brats out
of my body. I will cut my repros out and feed the wolves."
Something about that set off another set of high-pitched
giggles.

Osprey blinked at the odd question. Then
a demonic grin crept onto her face. A hearty dose
of blood, innards, and weapons. Glorious.

"Oh Re-re," she crooned. "I've only met
you and already you labelled me perfectly."
She laughed softly and adjusted her bandana.
Today is was deep sky blue. The color of Benny's
eyes.

"Count me in," she hissed with a smile on
her face. Her voice had lost all hint of amiability.
She was ready to break things.
