Stalling Empty Stalling

Post by Cresill Thu Sep 10, 2009 1:32 am

Merill let himself fall off to the side as soon as he was put down, landing with a soft grunt. He lay with his eyes half open and one hand holding onto his locket, or more laid over top of it so not to tense any of his muscles unnecessarily. He pressed his lips together for a moment. "No... It's not right for me to be different... I was the successor to my fathers place." He said softly. "It was really important that I be fit for the spot... but now he's..." He paused and moved his hand so he could see the locket, smiling a little. "... They're all gone."

He grit his teeth. He didn't want to talk about this but he did need to keep Reox there for as long as he could. "Yea? And everyday that you spent you were reminded by the ones you love how horrible you were, what insult you were to the race... In more ways than just verbally." He said, closing his eyes and squeezing the locket, ignoring the pain in his hand and arm. Even now, he didn't know why he'd killed her. If she'd still been there he might not be on the island... he might still be with her among humans. He'd have to stay locked inside for most of the time, but how different was that form here?

Merill smiled a little. "My family died in front of me too... Before I came here." He murmured, pushing the locket back and forth with his finger. That wasn't a lie, it just wasn't the whole truth.

He smiled a little and shook his head slightly, careful not to move it too much. "No. I chose to be alone. I didn't need them anymore." He whispered, the slightly smile remaining. Even if he missed his sister, he'd never really regretted killing her. He had no belief in religions or anything much of the sort, but locket always made her feel close anyways.

Merill almost shrugged but stopped himself. That movement maybe wasn't subtle enough for now. "It's been a long time, but I don't miss any of them. I only loved one of them... But, I don't miss her." He said, closing his hand around that locket again and closing his eyes. If he wasn't so used to the awful smell, having the locket that close to his face probably would have made him sick again. Though, this close it could make anyone sick.

"How can you love someone and not miss them? That's twisted, and that sticks by the way" He said; he didn't have to ask what it was to KNOW what it was; rotting flesh and organs always stood out in his mind.

Merill smirked, not opening his eyes. "You're right, and I know. I killed my family, but no one ever found out. That's twisted in itself I'd say." He said, though, he frowned a little at Reox's comment about the locket and pulled it towards him. "Well you don't smell so great yourself." He said flatly, his slight smile returning. "I don't mind her smell."

Merill rolled onto his back, finding moving to be much less painful than it had been, and looked up at him, lifting an eye brow. "I don't believe you. Didn't smell so great when you were carrying me." He said, letting go of the locket to fold his arms. "A... slinky?... If you say so." He said frowning a little.

He pushed himself up, carefully and sat on his knees. "I don't know about you, but I don't exactly go around smelling people." He said, lifting himself up off of his heels so he knelt taller. He held onto Reox's arm as he leaned closer. "I suppose from here you don't small as bad as my prisoners did." He murmured, almost against Reox's neck. Merill himself didn't actually smell bad, when you were close enough not to be smelling the locket instead.

Reox smalled of the elements he was tird to; so a mix of smoke, the sky. the sea and earth; all the scents were seperate and different they never seemed to overlap each other in anyway. Reox blinked and stiffened a little at that before he relaxed and let Rill lean against him; the other wasn't in any state to hurt him or anything.

He felt Reox tense and smiled, laughing softly before pulling away and sitting back on his heels. "Still," He said, looking away. "I don't think you smell that great."

Merill flicked his hair away from his face. "Doubt it. I shower, but I don't go and do stuff that'd give me b.o. after." He said folding his arms again. "Besides, you don't smell like you shower." He added, frowning.

Merill pressed his lips together, looking down as the explosion sounded. There wasn't much left he could do now, it was obvious where the explosions were coming from. He could only hope he'd stalled long enough. The measures it might take to keep him there now were more extreme than he was willing to go to.

The only protest he managed was a squeak before they took off with Merill clinging to his back. He wondered if he even had anything left to bring up.
