Voluntary work

Reox smirked as he looked up at the colosseum, he was pretty sure Rill would be surprised he;d dared turned up at all, considering they usually kidnapped mutants; Reox had a purpose though; not only would he had a little fun but if he wont he;d be able to get a certain prize the other had;he;d heard rumors the colosseum had hold of strange blueprints that no one could decipher only a true mechanical genius would figure out what it meant; Reox wanted them and he'd fight for them if he had to "Lets get this show on the road" He purred

Merill sat crossed legged on his bed. His room was located somewhere under the booth he sat in, or maybe further back. The halls were simple to follow, unlike the labyrinth of those out of the jail cell, though, going to it was easy. Even though his bedroom was easy to find the halls around it and around the stairs that led up to his booth were crawling with guards. The majority of them had some useful ability that could be used to disable an intruder or enemy but those who didn't carried weapons, most just long staffs that sent electric shocks through one's body but the ones that stood closer to Merill's room held much more lethal weapons.

He lifted his head slightly from where his chin had been resting against a pillow he was clutching in his lap. Probably the most movement he'd done since he'd gotten into the position after the last tournament which had been several hours ago. The room was dark aside from the small flame of a candle tat flickered on his bedside table since there were no windows and the Colosseum didn't really use much electricity. It didn't have heat either and the stone building was freezing at night.

Merill sighed, pushing the pillow away and changing positions so his legs were dangling off the edge as he stared ahead at the door. Outside, he knew, there would be at least two guards, if he got up and walked outside they wouldn't speak to him. They might nod. There really wasn't much to do in the Colosseum. but it was better than out there. He narrowed his eyes, pushing away the thoughts of outside. It was crawling with unpredictable mutants and animals.

He slid down off the bed and picked up the candle. The next tournament would start in half an hour and needed to be set up before anyone came. It was his only usual motivation to leave his room. Otherwise, he'd stay in there all day, everyday and never, never leave.

Reox sighed at the unconscious guards at his feet "Man you didn't have to attack me" He grumbled; what happened to simply questioning!?" Reox patted had hands lightly with a grin "I woulda told you guys that Merill invited me here but noooo" He grumbled with a roll of his eyes before he walked past the unconscious guys deeper into the depths of the colosseum.

Merill paused at the door, blinking as he heard shouting from farther down the hall. There was rustling outside the door as he assumed the guards out there were either bracing themselves or considering leaving to help the others. He didn't want them to leave, there was more than one way to this hall and whoever was in here could take any one of them. "Stay there, don't leave your post." He said, taking a step away from the door. There was a 'Yes sir' from the other side of the door and it went quite among the guards outside.

He remained staring at the door for a moment before bending over to place the candle on the stone floor and walked over to a large closet. He pulled open the doors and looked at the weapons inside. He had no intention of using any of them to attack the intruder but he'd use it while organizing the mutants for the next tournament. He lifted the scythe from among the other weapons and placed it on his bed before taking out his whip and placing it in its place on his belt before closing the doors and picking up his scythe again.

Merill rested the scythe against his shoulder so he had a free hand to pick up the candle with, which he placed back on the table and walked to the door. "Who is it?" He asked as he opened the door and looked at the guards. He frowned a little. There were five of them now, the others must be having problems. He sighed and waited for a response.

"We believe it's the leader of the Saviors." One replied quickly with a nod.

Merill stared at him and then looked down the hall that lead straight ahead away from his room. "He's here?" He rolled his eyes and gestured for the three guards that weren't normally guarding the doors to follow him. They immediately took a somewhat defensive position behind him as he walked down the hall leaving the other two to watch the door to his room again.

as Merrill reached the end of the hallway there was a scream and a flash of fire at two guards were blasted back wards and landed in a charred crumples heap on the floor in front of him as Reox walked towards the other "I gotta say Merrill, your security is severely lacking" He said with a smirk.

Merill took a step back and the guards around him moved a little closer around him, watching Reox carefully. He let the scythe fall forwards enough to hold it straight up on the ground and lifted an eye brow. "It's not like I want to kill off all the rats who try to come in. They're all useful if they can make it past the first guards, when they make to the end I can guarantee they'll be caught." He said. He had a far more conceited, haughty air compared to when Reox had seen him in the ruins.

Merill waved his hand dismissively as more guards came to where they stood and they stopped, watching Reox with the same cautious glares as the ones around Merill. Merill took a step away from them towards Reox, lifting his scythe and bringing it down again as he stepped, much like a cane. "So you actually came to try and volunteer?" He asked, looking up at him with an amused, and almost a little mocking, expression. "I don't see what your motives are but volunteer or not Castel will treat you as a normal participant." He shrugged.

His yellow eyes fell to the floor behind Reox as he looked over the bodies of the guards. "You certainly made a mess of my halls." He muttered narrowing his eyes before turning to the guards that stood in the halls and around him. "I expect this clean before anyone comes." Another 'Yes sir' and several were gone.

Merill looked over his shoulder at Reox. "If you have objections of being locked away with the others I suggest you leave now." He said.

Reox grinned "I told them I wanted to talk to you but they were rather...block headed" he said before he shrugged "It;'s fine by me Rill" He said "Im here for the prize you have on offer, and maybe the fun of killing off a few that are on my list, nothing more" He said with a grin.

Merill rolled his eyes. "Of course they didn't let you in, it's a normal reaction to most who break in before the tournament and especially towards those from other groups... Let alone one of the leaders." He said, putting his free hand on his hip as he turned to face Reox again. "Even if they had let you in they're not allowed to disturb me when I'm in my room." That was just about all the time since that's the only place he really ever was.

He stared at him rather blankly for a moment. A prize? He blinked, there had been one but he'd completely forgot about it since no one had ever gotten far enough to get it. Well, actually many had but the audience only thought the prize was a rumor and that the point of the Colosseum was only for the battles. in truth, they'd never had any intention of giving away a prize since the contestants were usually worn out by the end and easy to be temporarily broken by Castel while they were brought back to the jail. The prize did exist, it was hidden deep in the labyrinth of twisted hall ways under the Colosseum.

Merill laughed softly. "Right, right The prize." He said with a chuckle. "Well, we'll see."

Reox smirked at that "Rill let me ask you something...the rumor is that if anyone wins they never get the prize...is that right?" He asked before he cracked his knuckles "If I win...you better give it to me, it;s important" He said simply.

Merill shrugged. "I don't know the rumors. Though, I thought they all said there wasn't one." He said looking up at him. "You might be wasting your time here." He said shaking his head. The guards behind him that were closer to the blade of his scythe stumbled away as he twirled it, sending the curved blade in a circle over his head. If he'd even noticed he was ignoring them quite well.

He looked at Reox, his amber eyes studying his face. They had a sort of childish innocence about them, which dominated his expression and the rest of him matched it quite well, as he spoke. "You don't think I'd give the prize away if someone won?" He asked, sounding a little hurt. "It's all just a tournament."

Merill didn't care whether or not Reox caught onto that or not, he might if he really made it to the end. The guards all the way to his room grew stronger like the levels in the Colosseum tournament. After the tournament the winner was taken by the guards, they'd get the prize if they got through all of them. Merill used to keep it with him, but now he hadn't the foggiest idea where it was in the labyrinth, he doubted even Castel did. He wasn't exactly look forwards to it if Reox were to win, it wouldn't likely be a good reaction if he just said. 'Oh sorry I forgot where I put it.' Either way, they'd have to deal with that when they came to it.

"I think you use sneaky tactics to make sure no one gets that far" He said about as he stopped the blade with one figure as he looked down on the other with a grin"I need that prize I wont leave without it" He said before he boarded the others forehead with the same fingers smearing blood on his head before he stood and smirked "Lead the way to the cells then ^^"

Merill frowned a little and tilted is head to the side. "Sneaky?" He repeated. Truly, he didn't think he methods were very sneaky, they were pretty out there about it since the audience didn't have any objections to seeing the winner getting beaten down by the guards and brought back to fight again next time. "Well... ok..." He said shaking his head.

He looked up at Reox stopped the blade, flinching as he touched his forehead and ducking away a little more as he wiped the blood on it. He slowly opened his eyes as Reox stood up again and pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped it off. "Fine." He said shrugging. None of them ever did leave. He handed the soiled cloth to the guard that was still standing and looked up at Reox again with a slightly irritated expression.

Merill sighed and leaned the scythe against his shoulder again and walked down the hall towards the stairs that led down to the jail.

Reox follwoed with a grin like he wasnt aware of what he was getting into; it Merril thought this place could keep him confined he ahd another thing coming.

Merill led him down the stairs into the lugubrious hall ways of the dungeon, followed by one of the guards that stood outside the door. There were other guards in the halls but they were just about impossible to see in the darkness and completely silent.

He led Reox quickly through the underground halls until they arrived in the large room where the other cells were. The only light was a candle that was barely surviving on a short wick and almost completely melted wax. "I think you may already know some of the prisoners." He said with a slight smile as one of the guards led Reox to a cell and pushed him in with more strange mutants.

Merill wrinkled his nose. It smelled awful down there since some mutants had ended up dead and hadn't been cleaned out for a while or there had been other waste in there that hadn't been cleaned out in time. "I'll see you three in the tournament." He said softly before turning to leave.

Merill narrowed his eyes. Ragna calling him by his nickname was one thing but hearing it from Reox really did irk him. "Merill." He said in a carefully calm voice. He wasn't interested in Reox's response and he heard Elena speak to him.

Looking up at one of the guards he lifted an eye brow. "Lets leave." He said simply, glancing over his shoulder at the prisoners one last time before turning away again. He had no intention of spending any longer in that stinking dungeon, he could handle the smell of the locket but this was truly awful.

The guard nodded. "Yes, Master Pellyn." He grunted. This guard, like almost all the rest, was a huge man of mostly muscle. He led Merill away from the prisoners and back to the stairs, stopping when they were at the door and opening it to let him through.

Merill walked through without looking back at the guard and continued off down the hall without another word. He wanted to go back to his room but for now he'd have to wait in the booth, he wouldn't be seen when the audience came in.

Reox turned to Elena " Well well Look who's here!" Reox said with a grin as he leaned on the bars and face Elena " I volunteered to come fight No one needed to subdue me to come" He said with a smirk "I guess you got your ass handed to you...considering the mess your in that's probably true" He said with a wide grin.

Elena took a step back. "Do you see a scratch on this beautiful face?" Elena flipped her hair. "I didn't think so. No one attacked me, I attacked them. They caught me off guard with some odd device which by now, I'm sure someone back at my building has come up with a counter for... Volunteer? HA! That IS something you would do. You're too nice. It's disgusting"

Elena glanced down at her L O W cut button up and he torn mini skirt. "Those can be replaced..." Elena said in a slightly nervous tone, she had no intention of letting Reox find out that they had temporary disabled her powers

Merill walked up the stairs to the booth and sat down in the big chair. The railing over which he watched was low so the chair didn't have to be higher. A few people began to come down the aisles and take their seats before the rest started filing in. Merill sighed softly. If there were so many people who came to see why did he only ever seem to find those who were opposed to the Colosseum.

He pulled his knees up but didn't keep them by his chest, he let them rest against the arm rests and folded his arms so they were out of the way. He watched as the seats were filled, the groups being escorted by a guard or so. He wondered if any of them thought it odd that the place had so many guards.

A guard came down into the dungeon, ignoring Elena and Reox's bickering and pulled out a couple of mutants, handing one off to another guard and they both went off down halls in opposite directions.

Elena was one of the mutants pulled once out of the cage, she violently slapped the guard who had pulled her. "I will follow... Just don't touch me... EVER..."
